I am delighted that you are interested in the Head of Internal Audit role at Kent County Council.
The County Council is the largest local authority in the country, serving approximately 1.6 million people. The Council’s diverse range of services include providing adult social care to over 30,000 older and vulnerable residents, supporting over 1,600 looked after children and 1,700 care leavers. We have 99 libraries, 84 children’s centres, we maintain 6,000km of public rights of way and 8,500km of highways. Our responsibilities include economic development and regeneration, community services, public protection and waste disposal as well as delivering a large capital programme.
Our vision in the audit function is to work in partnership to provide value for money, responsive services that support the Council and our external clients to achieve their aims and aspirations. We do this by assuring governance, risk management and internal controls, ensuring operational excellence and enabling strong governance across the Council. We have a dynamic approach to audit. Our risk based approach is well embedded, providing a collaborative way of supporting the organisation to achieve its objectives as well as providing the more traditional auditing functions.
We are looking for an innovative and experienced audit leader who is credible with elected members and senior staff. You will provide supportive, positive leadership, working with corporate colleagues, Members and other partners, in a complex and demanding environment.
If you are up for the challenge and you have the ability and experience to succeed, Kent County Council provides you with the opportunity to make a real difference.
I look forward to meeting you in the coming the weeks.
